Archie: 9 months

Archie, we're a bit behind in monthly posts.  The pictures have been taken (mostly) on-time.  So at nine months...

We had your 9 month appointment, and you are still about 75% for height, 50th% for weight and your head is still more like 85th%.  You are growing perfectly.  Reaching developmental milestones--separation anxiety, you struggle with object (mom) permanence, you babble, you laugh, you want IN on the action.

You are so wiggly.  That is the word that comes to mind most when thinking of you at nine months.  Feedings are difficult because you hardly want to sit still to get full.  You are distracted by the fun or crazy that happens around you and you can't  wait to be part of it all.  You grab at everything and you have spilled so many plates and cups on me when I haven't been paying attention.  You sit very well and you can reach further and further each day.  You are almost ready to crawl.

You have just started finger foods.  Not so much on the puffs, you would love them, but you keep trying to swallow them before you gum them up, so you choke.  Not good.  You do love avocado, ham, and cheese.  While you love pureed fruits and veggies, you're not so sure about the raw fruit taste yet--a bit tart your face tells us.

You are napping a bit more consistently, loving your morning nap.  We are sorry it often happens in the stroller at the park, beach or pool.  Ok-we're not sorry.  I would love to take a nap a the park, beach and pool.

The best part of the milestones you've reached is your sense of humor.  I witnessed your first real belly laugh.  Not from tickling, because you thought something was really funny.  I was building a tower with blocks for you and you just kept knocking it down.  When I said, "Hey!" you thought you were hilarious.  You were roaring.  I loved it.  Now Hattie and Griff spend a lot of time trying to make you laugh.

You are a strong, thriving, sweet boy and we love you.
