Hattie: 7 months!

Why is time flying by!?  I just blinked at Hattie was 7 months old.  This is one of my absolute favorite baby phases.   She can sit but can't crawl, which means I can just sprinkle some toys around her and she's totally content (for 5 minutes).  In all seriousness though, sitting....is a big deal.   I love just sitting next to her while she plays with her toys or watches Griff.  She prefers to have company.  When I'm cooking...not her favorite time of day because she can see me, but knows I'm not with her.  Although Griffin has been such a help, trying to entertain her, make her giggle or dangle toys for her.

She is such a little charmer.  She loves to bat her eyelashes and smirk when playing peek-a-boo and is always roaring with laughter on the changing table...a ticklish little one!  She also loves to laugh at Griff and Cooper...but who doesn't?  She likes to lunge forward in her sitting position and dive into her toys, Griff thinks it's hilarious, especially when she does it in the bathtub.

She's on a great schedule, 7:30 breakfast, 10 morning nap, 11:30 lunch, 1:30 afternoon nap, 4 snack, 6:30 dinner, 7pm bed.  She is eating up a storm.  There isn't a fruit or veggie she won't eat, but peas are still her favorite:).  She likes squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli, peas, potatoes, parsnips, avocado, bananas, mango, pear, apple, nectarine, peaches, plums and still really likes baby oatmeal.  She nurses first and then eats a meal, and I think she drinks about 4-5 ounces.  She usually uses her nuk to fall asleep but it doesn't stay put long, and she's been flinging it right out of her crib.  She also still loves her little bird blankie and I think is pretty attached to her burp towels (since they were around her so often while she was still spitting up).  She spits up occasionally, but I don't have to follow her around with a burp towel anymore.

She is starting to get much more verbal, imitating the tone of conversations she observes.  She's not consistently verbal, but when she wants to talk, she makes herself heard.  She still doesn't love tummy time, which will make learning to crawl a bit of a challenge, but I'm fine with her just sitting for now:).

People continue to ask if she reminds me of Griff.  Well, yes and no.  Yes they were both round-faced, chubby babies with whispy hair and big blueberry eyes.  They both have smiles that will light up a room, they have hit milestones at pretty similar times and they both melt me, especially now that Hattie is starting to "hug."  But they are also very different.  Griffin was much more curious and wanting to explore, whereas Hattie is more cautious and wanting to take it all in from her vantage point.  Griffin was eager to be held by others and Hattie wants to stay close to what is familiar.  Both were more interested in "talking to people" than playing with toys and both love each other, mommy, daddy and Cooper.

Hattie Pie, we could not be more in love with you and we love watching you change, grow, develop and become who you are.  I say this to him all of the time, but I am continually amazed at how much Griffin loves you.  He really couldn't care less about other babies, but he would do anything for you.  He has never shown a mean attitude toward you and never (intentionally:) hurt you.  He wants to make you laugh and smile and participate in our fun each day.  When I have to put you down for a nap, he begs me not to.  You are that wonderful to be around, and you're only 7 months old.  Wow.
