Mother's (of 2) Day

Well, I'm only about a month and a half late on this one.  My goal was to recap Mother's Day before Father's Day happened.  Fail.  I guess that's a lesson in motherhood.  Sometimes other things get moved to the back burner in order to spend precious moments with the precious ones.

Anyway, this year we had a super chill mother's day.  We went to church and then met my family at Chutes and Ladders so Griff could play (bonus to being the only grandchild with an opinion).
All of the grandparents took turns chasing Griff around.
While we all ate a BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic).

Griff was in his glory.
He's really into climbing.  Especially on me.  I've been trying so hard to keep repeating, "where do we climb?"  Griff is quick to answer, "at the park," but his actions haven't caught up to his words.
He also loves slides.  The faster and taller the better.  He hasn't yet tried what Nate was doing at his age, going down the slides standing up, screaming, "I'm Tuperman!"
The Grandmas....

Mama and Griff....wow, we need to work on that smile.

Our family of four...I guess this is the best of the bunch and probably the best we can expect a family picture to look for the next few years.
We spent the "after-nap" time with the Woodbury's.  Grandma, the moms and all the kiddos....
Grandma and Griff...
And then we just spent some quality time on our porch to end the day.  For days (even months) after mother's day, Griffin still scribbles on a piece of paper, (tries to) fold it up and hands it to me singing, "Happy Mother's Day to you!"  I guess everyday truly is mother's day at our house:)...thanks for teaching them early, Nate.

Chasing Birdies

On our recent trip to Savanna, GA, Griffin spent most of his time golfing, golf carting and anything else related to golfing.  And then we got to the beach and it was this wide open space.  With no walls.  No fence.  No cars.

So...he was off.
In all directions.
With Nate following close behind:).
Nate tapped out a few miles in.
Griff barely stopped for sips of water.
He was just, "chasin' birdies."

In 5 minutes...

Nate had to leave for work about 5 minutes before I was done getting ready one morning, so I put Hattie in a bouncy chair in the bathroom and let Griff continue eating his breakfast at the coffee table.  In the 5 minutes it took me to finish getting ready, the following took place.

First, I hear Griff yell, "Mama, look! look! Come Quick! Cooper is allll dirty!"  I race into the living room to find this.

Griffin had gotten the cereal box down off the kitchen counter (which someone forgot to put away, I won't name names:) and dumped the entire thing on the coffee table.  Then he proceeded to crunch it all up and throw it on Cooper. Cooper was happily licking up the mess and Griff was having a blast.  Whew.  (PS-a few days later he tried this with oatmeal...was not as easy to clean up:(.)

While I was cleaning up that mess, Griff snuck into his room and opened his dresser and emptied his entire disposable diaper stash on his bed.  I think this was his art project for the morning.  He named this piece, "Diaper Mountain."

So just a reminder that if you have 5 minutes of quiet...you probably also have 20 minutes of clean up waiting for you:).

Another PS-he tried this to Nate too....Nate had both kids for dinner and bedtime while I was at a shower and Griff snuck into the basement for 5 minutes and found Cooper's dog food bag.  When Nate found him he was throwing dog food all over and just watching Cooper eat it up.  What a little sneak!
