Hattie: 2 months!

Wow...I can't believe two months have already passed since she was born.  In some ways it feels like she is still so new, and in other ways it feels like she's always been with us.  Either way, I can't imagine life without her.

We haven't had her 2 month appointment yet, so her stats aren't exact, but using the baby scale she's just over 12 pounds, just graduated to size 2 diapers and is quickly outgrowing her 0-3 month clothes.  But that round face double chin speak for themselves!
She eats about 6-7 times a day, and since I'm nursing I'm not sure how many ounces she eats at each feeding, but when I've pumped she's been eating around 4 1/2.

Two nights ago, she slept through the night!  9:30 pm-6:30 am!!!  Last night was 10-5, soooo close! Either way, I can't complain, she is doing a great job--eating, sleeping, pooping and growing.

She's spending more of her time awake these days.  After she eats she needs a burp (much less spitting up if she gets a good one), though you really have to work for it.  After a burp she loves to lay "under the deep blue sea" (the activity play mat) and especially likes to stare at herself in the mirror-what a girl:).
She also just started smiling, and in response to someone smiling and talking to her.  It melts your heart.  Here is a little half smile/ make your day--it made mine!

Do they look alike?

One of the most frequent questions I've gotten since Hattie was born, is, "Does she look like Griffin?"  I'll let the pictures speak for decide. :)
This was on the way home from the hospital....

This was a few days old, at home...

A few more in their first few days, this time awake...

This was Mama and each of them in the hospital shortly after they were born...

Here they are a few days old from a new angle....

Here I am with each of them, cherishing the precious newborn naptime...

A new angle....

And finally, here are a few from the professional pictures taken by Jennifer at paleBlu photography.

What do you think?  I think they definitely look like brother and sister.  They look more alike when they are sleeping than when they're awake.  Griffin had a more prominent chin and shiny blond hair, whereas Hattie's hair is darker, even reddish.  They are very similar in size and face shape, and they both have perfect rosebud lips.  As they get older I think they look less alike, but that could also be seeing their differences as we know Hattie more and more.  Look alikes or not, they are both pretty darn cute:).

Happy 2nd Birthday Griff!

My baby boy turns 2 today.  It hasn't really sunken in yet....except for the fact he looks like this....

...and not this....

Two years ago today, my life was changed forever.  I became a mom for the first time.  Griffin has made every day since that day better, just by being our son.

Not to say that Griffin is perfect, we all know no one is, but he is perfect for us.  Even as a baby Griffin loved to make people smile.  At his baby dedication at 6 months when we were asked what Griffin's personality was like we said, he loves to make people smile.  To this day, he loves to make people smile.  Daily, he reminds me of how to find joy in the small stuff and how to have fun anytime, anywhere.  Someday, remind me to tell you about our Mumford and Sons dance parties.

Griffin is an amazing 2 year old boy and I was telling Nate the other day, I am just soooo proud of him.  Of who he is as a person (albeit a little person), of how he treats others (most of the time), of how he loves to read, play, and sing and especially how he loves us and his sister.

We're celebrating his birthday a little late, so look for a "par-tee" update soon:)!

Happy Birthday my sweet boy, Griff.  We love you so much.  You make our life so wonderful.

Bribery or just good motivation?

When leaving a playdate recently with some of Griff's best girlfriends....and some of mine, we had a hard time getting motivated to "go home."  So, I grabbed a Reese egg that was at my friends house and told him if he got his dipe changed, shoes and jacket on and got in the car he could have it.  I have never seen Griff move so fast.   Well, I mean move so fast at something productive and not just running around like a maniac.
So he got in his carseat, and I gave it to him.  I talked to him the whole way home and it didn't even cross my mind that he didn't just pop the whole thing in his mouth and be done with it.  Oh no, he decided to hold it in his palm and slowly lick the chocolate egg until it was gone.  When I opened the door to get him out, this is what I found.
I never thought I'd be one of those moms who bribed their kids, let alone bribes of candy.  But, let me tell works. :)

Happy Friday!

Newborn snuggles

Excuse the dark photography, these photos were all taken on my phone during snuggles with my sweet baby girl, wherever they happened.  Bad exposure and lighting and all.
I know that at some point I'm going to have to put her "to bed" for her naps, so I'm enjoying every moment of snuggles with her.
I especially love when her little face points up at mine and I can inhale her smells just like a baby should and it is gooood.
Since the only time my undivided attention can be devoted to her is when Griff is sleeping, all of my other chores, to-do lists, etc., seem to take the back burner to an afternoon latte, cookie, candle and cuddles with Hattie.  That's what's called livin' it up in mom world.  Cooper loves it too and often steals one of her blankies:).

Hattie 1 month

Hattie....1 month old.  Monday March 25, 2013 (again a little late on the post).  Only 4 weeks in and we are already so in love.

After a month she's just about 10 pounds, eats every three hours during the day and every 4-5 at night, sometimes takes a nuk and is obsessed with big brother Griff.  When he's laughing she looks for him and now when he cries, she cries.  On his clumsy days, we've all got it rough:).  She gets a little fussy in the evening if she didn't have good naps, but we can usually snuggle her out of it.

The verdict on who she looks like?  She definitely has moments and experessions that resemble Griff, but I think while Griff looks more like Nate, Hattie looks more like me (and even my mom, according to some baby pics I saw of her!).
I can't believe it's already been a month, but in other ways it feels like she's always been a part of our family.  What a wonderful month it has been!
