My new weekends: Tuesday mornings

Tuesday mornings Griffin goes with his Nana Signe to BSF at her church.  He gets to have lots of playtime first with other kids his age and then for a little while with the "big" kids.  If I can, I try to get a substitute teaching job lined up for Tuesdays because I know Griffin will be taken care of first at BSF, then back at Nana Sig and Grandpa Rob's.

Some Tuesdays, there are just no teachers out sick...which means Nate brings Griffin to Nana Sig's in the morning and I am free until I pick him up in the early afternoon. title finally makes sense.  Tuesday mornings are my new weekends.

When I was teaching full time weekends were the time when I got projects done, relaxed, exercised, made coffee, lunch, and dinner plans with friends and cleaned my house.  Since Nate's job has been crazy lately, consuming a lot of his weekend time, my weekends tend to look similar to any weekday.  So, Tuesdays mornings are my new weekends.  I take what I can get and am thankful for it.

Yesterday, I went for a run, took a leisurely shower, had coffee and read the (online) newspaper, hit up JoAnn Fabrics for supplies for some upcoming projects, finished a mirror project that has been in the works for months (more on that later this week), did laundry, cleaned the house, researched hotels for an upcoming vacation, uploaded pics, ordered pics, went to lunch with my dad and picked up Griffin at about 1 pm.  It never ceases to amaze me at how productive I must have been before Griffin.  Don't get me wrong, I still have productive days with Griffin around, but it's nothing compared to Tuesday mornings.

A friend's husband recently took care of his 3 month old alone while his wife worked the entire weekend and he said, "Actually taking care of her is not that hard, it's getting anything else done while you're taking care of her..."  Hit the nail on the head.

I sill look to fill my Tuesdays with subbing, but I am not disappointed when a Tuesday comes along and all the teachers in the land are healthy and I get to have my weekend.  Now, if everyone else could take their weekend on Tuesday mornings, we could make a party out of it.
